I bought this meter to check the current draw of various devices I plan to use in my trailer. I installed it in some sort of plastic switch box I found at a hardware store. I didn't want to use a large double box and found them for less than $2 including trim. I was hoping to mount it in the rosette but it wasn't big enough so I cut out the side of the box with a rotary cutter in a Dremel tool and it made for a pretty neat installation. I bought a cheap extension cord (14 gauge) to run out of the box. My finished product is like an extension cord with a meter down the middle. Plug whatever you want to measure into the end of the cord and plug the other end of the cord into an outlet that can measure current and voltage instantly. With such a small box and a very thick cable it was very cramped and I would have been better off with a bigger box but it worked well. The counter does most of what I want it to do. It was easy to install, but lacks instructions on how to set up the display. Some people complain that the locking tabs only fit a very thin frame. I was able to overcome this by using a cutting wheel in a Dremel tool and shortening the end of the locking tabs very slightly. Be careful if you try this as the plastic will melt almost instantly if touched by a rotating cutting wheel. For less than $20, this is a pretty decent counter. I hope this lasts long.
