Review on 🍾 Set of 12 Winco Champagne Bottle Stoppers by Dale Toth

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great cap for the bottles that fit.

This stopper is for champagne bottles and any other bottles that are pressurized with CO2. Champagne bottles have specific features in the shape of the neck and the neck of the bottle. Under the edge of the hole there is a rib that allows you to attach the original plug with a reliable grip. This stopper uses this small bar. The wings on the sides have a groove or protrusion (see photo). When closed on the outside of the bottle head, this curved edge grips the rib under the head, forming a secure clip that won't come loose unless you want it to. Inside the cork cap is a silicone rubber gasket with a large spring behind it. Press the cork and the seal closes the top of the bottle (it doesn't sink like a Zyliss cork). The spring provides pressure to seal the bottle tightly, but it all depends on these wings squeezing the bottle neck to keep the cap tightly closed, and so the spring transmits the force to the silicone rubber seal that seals in the gas. If the bottles were under very high pressure the gas would push on the cap which would rise against the spring and release the pressure until the spring overcomes the pressure of the reduced gas and holds it again. But the pressure of champagne and sparkling wine drinks isn't enough to raise the bar. It takes a bit of strength on your part to hold this device, but the wings snap into place naturally, making it quick and easy; it just takes an initial nudge to get it in place. A very well designed cork and you can buy it knowing it will work but with one caveat: it will fit most champagne bottles but some say it doesn't. Everyone. I have not seen any that it is not suitable for. DO NOT buy it for: Wine Bottles, Beer Bottles, Coca-Cola Bottles, etc. There are better corks for that. The thing is, this cork might work on many of your wine bottles, coca-cola bottles, etc., but you can't be sure without trying. Key: If the bottle has a flat rim around the neck under the neck and if that rim is fairly straight, with no chamfers or rounded edges, then this stopper can close it. Tip: Use this stopper for most bottles. Bottles of this type simply wrap a rubber band around the wings to help them cling to the ledge under the bottleneck. But on the bottles for which it was intended, no additional tricks are required. It stays in place until you remove it.
