I need to replace my old 2.5" coupler on my exhaust with rusted bolts. This particular piece is just over 2.5 inches when clamped all the way down, while needing to be slightly less to create a tight seal. You will also need two different size wrenches/bits to tighten them. That in itself is normal; However, keep in mind that you will need deep sockets if you want to do this. Another thing to note is that the bolts taper towards the top edge on one side, which makes it easy for your wrenches/heads to slip off - this is especially important when you consider you'll be under your car on the your back while trying to tighten a screw. Hold the screw on the other side to keep it from turning. I would spend a little more money and find a hitch that only has one set of bolts that thread into their own welded nut.
