Good drive. It's on the netbook I'm typing on right now. I bought it to turn a netbook into a spinning, noisy drive. Works like a champ. What I didn't know (and probably neither do you) is that they aren't the same thickness as a typical laptop hard drive. If your laptop depends on the thickness of the drive to hold it in place, then you're out of luck here. PNY has supplied it with a spacer ring the same size as the disc to take up the required space. If you installed it on a desktop PC, you probably don't need a spacer. Simply put it in the spare parts basket. One trick: the drive works great with older systems that use SATA drives. But. You may need to toggle some kind of "legacy mode" option for hard drives in the BIOS settings if your system doesn't like it to begin with. I had to do this on my Toshiba netbook. But after that Windows XP was installed normally. There are so many different systems out there that I can't tell which ones are needed or not. I suspect any computer made after 2012 will accept these discs out of the box without hesitation.
