Easy CCTV setup

I have 1 Foscam and 3 Amcrest cameras connected to my house and used Camcloud on one Angelcam on another to find out which ones I'm most interested in liked best. Before updating them, I decided to see if I could do it myself with the NVR. I have some but not much technical knowledge but I found this Amcrest NVR to be relatively easy to set up after repeatedly watching the various videos they have on their website including one on installing a hard drive. The hard drive is easy to install and will be recognized when the NVR is connected. The NVR recognizes and allows me to connect not only 3 Amcrest cameras but also my 1 Foscam camera. I don't have the same control over the Foscam setup, but it's enough to record events and view them remotely. I found Amcrest View Pro for my iPhone and Amcrest Surveillance Pro for my PC to be very good ways to view cameras and events. . I am happy with both. There are videos on how to use them, but they don't cover all of their functions, some of which I've discovered just by playing around with them. For my purposes, remotely viewing my cameras and events, I am very satisfied after using the NVR and associated software for about 45 days. I've been happy with both Camcloud and Angelcam, more of an interface with Angelcam, but have been able to cancel both cloud recording services thanks to the success of my NVR over the past month and a half. Now let's see how reliable it is for hopefully many years of service.

Pros
  • High marks for support and longevity from testers
Cons
  • Some difficulties
