Review on HBN Automatic Cat Feeder With HD 1080P Camera,Dog Food Dispenser Work With Alexa And Voice Recorder,Wi-Fi Enabled App Control by Byron Howell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Feeding and features work well; be sure you have a 2.4 Wifi band

Note, we have 2 cats with different food needs, so we ordered both the camera version and the non-camera version (no need for two cameras for us). The one with the camera faces the other one and the app makes it easy for me to tell if they are trying to steal each other’s food and reprimand them through the speaker. Their reactions are very entertaining.Unboxing: minimal packaging; they smartly packaged everything inside the food hopper to reducepackaging.Physical set up: Super simple. Make sure to read the instructions. It’s easy to set up, but DON’T throw away the desiccant package. It goes in the lid of the food hopper to help keep the food fresh! The feeder hopper holds about 3.5lbs.Battery Backup: Batteries are not included. The feeder takes 3 size D Batteries. If the power goes out, the feeder will still dispense at the scheduled time, BUT you will not be able to access it through the app until power is restored.App Setup ***Make sure your device is logged into your 2.4 ghz band of your WiFi network when you set up the feeder. The QR code on the box makes it easy to find the app and get it installed.Non-camera feeder: The app immediately finds this as Pet Feeder 4L, so no confusion there. To set up scheduled feedings, click on "Meal Plan” and you can easily program it.Camera feeder: Setup for this one was a little confusing. Because it has a camera, the app shows it as a "Security Camera” when it is searching for nearby devices. Thankfully I didn’t have any other security cameras, so it was easy to tell I was setting up the right device. When you are in the app setting up the feedings, you'll set up via "schedule”; the "Feed” button just allows you to remotely feed up to 10 servings at once.Camera: the camera has a bit of a fisheye lens to it, so don’t be expecting portrait quality images. It is HD though, so you might get some cat videos that you would work for sharing.Voice Record/Playback: It took a few times to get a good recording. There is a sweet spot for recording; for me was about 18” from the feeder. Any closer and it was super muffled, any farther and it was super quiet. The speaker on the playback is a tiny piezo speaker, so don’t expect super high quality audio output. It’s good enough that my cats can recognize me saying "Dinner time” through it.Feeding/Portion size: ran this through 10 cycles and measured the output. The app says each portion is about 10 grams. With our food choice (Science Diet Perfect Weight Dry) the camera version feeder varied between 8 and 11 grams, and the non-camera feeder varied between 9 and 13 grams.

Sturdy gizmo. I feel confident that the cat will be fed when we are away for a couple of days. Worth the investment.
