I bought this drive because of the reviews and because it promised: "The StoreJet 25H3 external hard drive has a USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface with UASP (USB Attached SCSI) support. ) with lightning-fast data transfer rates of up to 5 Gbit/s.β The promised speed just doesn't live up. I averaged around 88MB/s which means it takes around 8 hours to back up my hard drive. It's doable, you can do it overnight, but my old external drive did the same thing. I bought it because I wanted to back up my drive in minutes, not hours. I went to Transcend support site and they said if the drive is too slow you should format it with their software. So I downloaded their software, installed it on my computer, and then formatted the drive. No change, still only around 88 MB/s. So I contacted Origin's PC support - very helpful - who made me update all my drivers. After none of that worked, they checked the hard drive for any software they had. On my machine, the drive performed slightly better than the reference, which averaged 84.9 MB/s. So, Transcend's claim that it has "lightning speeds of up to 5 Gbps" seems like a lie. If you don't have a large backup drive and can wait all night for a backup, this might work for you. But there are better options like Western Digital and Samsung. I'm sending it back and buying one like that.
