I must have gotten something the other reviewers didn't get?
Edit: I solved my problem by prying the corner connector pliers with pliers. I will not buy this brand again. I bought this to add to another shelf of the same size and connection style. Trying to connect them was awful! So I tried to connect only the parts from this set. I figured out the problem, so the stem (corner) size isn't right and the connectors are too tight to hammer in (the flimsy hammer they sent doesn't help). To be honest I have no idea how these other people put their shelf together without complaining.
