Bolts arrived quickly and in fairly good condition. Of the 1000 ordered, fewer than 5 had damaged spikes (holes in the sides or other deformities). I've used about 600 of these spikes and about 10 had trouble preventing the screw from connecting to the spike. I attach them by 2 pieces of leather totaling about 6-7 ounces and it takes a bit of effort to attach but once the threads are hooked they seem strong. I wouldn't recommend much thicker leather (or I would use Loctite or some other thread sealant to secure them). Overall, I expect less than 25 out of 1000 to be unusable. Note that the picture shows a slotted screw head, I had Phillips screws (which I actually prefer).
