Great sound, beautiful design

I really like this stereo. Sounds great, nice design. I really like full range speakers and they have enough power for what I need. The CD compartment is convenient and the whole device is simple and concise in its design. You need to turn up the volume a bit to play the CD. I find that 20-24 is a good volume for general listening and 8-10 is the equivalent volume on FM. I like the classic EQ setting, it seems to give the best precision and clarity. The Bass button adds just enough bass to warm up the radio and boosts the mids nicely. Pleasant crisp highs and highs with female vocals, strings and percussion. Mid and low notes work well with male vocals, saxophone or resonant instruments. This device is equipped with a wire antenna and the reception is normal. I bought a detachable telescopic antenna that I haven't tried yet. I live 60 miles from most radio stations and they sound pretty clear even with a wire antenna. Some were a little blurry but moving a little wire helps. My only criticism is that Crosley should have just gone ahead and provided a built in telescopic antenna, but you have the option to add your own. The antenna connector is a sliding connector with a male-female connection and is unthreaded. However, he is conscientious. The CD tray is neatly integrated into the front of the unit, so dust issues should be minimized. The display is digital, the remote control works well. Radios come with programming indicators along with the tuned frequency. It displays program titles, talk show hosts, song titles, etc. The CD displays track numbers, time, etc. You can play CDs in random order and preset up to 30 stations either with the remote control or manually. Buttons on the front of the device. I played a CD that was compiled in an early version of iTunes on my old Mac and it played just fine. The manual assumes that the MP# format may not work, but AIFF discs burned on a computer work fine. I haven't tried any of the Bluetooth features yet, so I can't comment on that. I haven't programmed the clock radio or the wake-up function yet either. This is a great unit and good value for money. I buy an additional 3 year warranty plan just in case. I would recommend this Crosley stereo to anyone who wants a great sounding FM stereo with a CD player and quality speakers. It's beautifully made, solidly built, beautifully designed and sounds great.
