At first I was surprised at it being smaller than expected, but I was very surprised at how well it performed and came to appreciate it's size, construction and ease of use and how bright it was. It came charged but I hooked it up to bring the charge to full. Very easy to charge, and not having used it for a great length of time I cannot speak to how long a charge holds but I am told by other users to expect at least 5 hours. Having bought one, I then bought two more to use in the car and home (for power outages) and keep another for emergencies. Price is right. Highly recommend.
