I've seen weighted blankets everywhere, people's main complaint is that they get very hot underneath. As someone who overheats very easily, I didn't have that problem with this particular one. The lid is for cooling and I can 100% confirm that it works as it should. Let's say you want it to be a little warmer. Just put another blanket on top or underneath and it will warm up more. I also have a severe case of insomnia that I have struggled with for as long as I can remember and this blanket has worked better than any medication I have tried (which was a lot). I woke up less and slept better because I didn't toss and turn all night. Another thing is that the beads inside make it very comfortable, thanks to their size there are no lumps in them, and the blanket flows better. I really love my weighted blanket.
