I always have an oiler. I use butter for cooking and I just love it when it's cooked and soft. This butter dish literally solves a problem I often run into. I feel like I'm trying to hold the butter knife with the bowl but for some reason it always comes off. This lid literally holds the butter knife. It's so convenient that you'll never have to search for a butter knife. It looks like a small farmhouse but can actually go in any direction. I think the white with black lettering makes it neutral enough to fit in any kitchen. The size is large and it looks great on my countertop. As for cleaning, I wash by hand. Mainly because of the top, I think this is the best way to go about it. It's easy to clean and I just towel dry it. I am very happy with this combination of knife and oiler. Beautiful to look at and very functional. The materials used are good and easy to clean.
