I have a Ring 2 video doorbell that is exposed to the strong southern sun on my back door. This works great as a sun visor, keeping it from overheating in the summer and clearing snow in the winter. I had to drill a hole in the back to get the wires through but it was easy. I also painted it to match my house's finish and used silicone caulk between it and the siding. Its design does not affect the doorbell function or the camera view. A note however; I would recommend just painting the outside. Painting the inside of this hood a light color may cause excessive light reflection when the doorbell switches to night vision mode using the IR diodes.
