I needed an LPT port to build a CNC router with Mach 3 or LinuxCNC. Since I threw away all computers with a physical LPT port a long time ago, I went with this one because of the price. and because it supports the modes required to properly connect the CNC motion control card (SPP/PS2/EPP/ECP). I installed this card in three different ports on two different computers. Both have been fully updated to Windows 10. Both systems can see the card, but mark it as an unknown serial device. Windows Update and Online Driver Update failed to install the driver so I used a freshly installed/updated Win 10 disc and tried every driver that was on the disc. None of them worked. I couldn't get it to work in a LinuxCNC installation either, BUT it could still be a configuration error. Having problems with Linux, I decided to give Windows a try just to test the card's basic functionality in case I had problems with the DOA board. At this point I gave up. In fact, I found that my old computer had an LPT port header on the MB even though it didn't have an external port. So instead of trying another LPT card, I just ordered a $4 connector board to put in my computer. Since it only cost $12, it wasn't worth digging out the box to return it. I'll throw it in the spare parts basket.
