I connected my monitor's VGA cable to the port labeled "VGA out" on the switch. I then connected the two cables that came with the switch to the switch (using the ends (supplied cables only have a VGA connector) to the switch ports labeled PC1 and PC2. I have the VGA connector and the USB connector connected to the other end of PC1). . Cables to the appropriate ports on my main computer and the VGA and USB ports on the other end of the PC2 cable to the appropriate ports on my second computer, the first "mother" USB port on the switch. Then I turned on my first computer. It loaded and worked until I tried to open the program. The first computer, which was very old, soon revealed that it needed to be restarted to finish installing the new hardware. I gave permission to restart and after the restart everything worked fine. After the first computer booted up, I turned on the second, newer computer. It booted and didn't require a reboot to finish installing the new hardware. I was able to toggle between the two computers using the buttons on the switch. Everything seems to be working as expected. I haven't tried anything with other USB ports on the switch. I don't use the switch ports PC3 and PC4. Both computers are Windows 7 desktops.
