Don't waste your money, this lamp failed after 3 months of normal use, almost immediately after installation I heard the sound of the arc from the projector being warmed up. I only replaced the original bulb because it was approaching the 6000 hour mark (5 years) and didn't want the bulb to explode and destroy the projector as you've heard. When replacing I used nitrile gloves as I would with any other halogen. I knew the first time I switched it on that it wasn't going to be good, not only because of the arcing noise but also because it took as long to boot up as a worn original lamp, but when I bought the projector new it caught fire in a few seconds. it lasted from 45 seconds to a full minute.
