I would give this 5 stars but my gerbils chewed almost everything on it. The staircase was gone within a week, even gnawing through the walls of the cube. However, they are real gymnasts and can still pull themselves up at all levels. The water bottle didn't fit me at all either, but could easily and cheaply be replaced with a better replacement. I find clearing the cage can be a bit tricky as you have to remove all the cubes to really clear it. With all of this, it's a good size and gives gerbils the opportunity to be 'alone' if they want to. If your small pet doesn't chew as much, it's probably fine.
