Review on Upgraded Hilife Steamer for Clothes: Handheld Garment Steamer with 240ml Big Capacity by Marcus Dortch

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks good for the price so far

Let me start with a disclaimer: I am writing this review having only used the product once but will update if mine changes Experiences change after longer use. I bought this steamer as a gift for my wife who wanted something easy to use and portable. The materials used seem decent enough for the price, it's small (definitely portable) and there really isn't much to do except fill it up and turn it on, which is exactly what she was looking for. I tested it on one of my work shirts (before/after in photos) that was particularly wrinkled (left in the washing machine too long before hanging on a hanger to dry). I filled the device just below the max line and turned it on. After about 1-2 minutes the contraption was boiling and steam was constantly coming out of the nozzle (this is essentially the same as a kettle but it pushes steam from boiling water through 5 small holes in the nozzle). I SLOWLY worked from the bottom up the front, back and sleeves of the shirt. After steaming on all sides for about 4-5 minutes, wrinkles were smoothed out to an acceptable level for office work. Keep in mind that this device is quite small (which makes it so portable), but the downside is that it doesn't produce nearly as much vapor as a floorstanding device, and thus requires more passes to achieve "crease-free" ( somehow would). )" look. If you're a big shot at a Fortune 500 company, the results of this product certainly don't compare to a dry cleaning press (or even a decent iron from someone who knows what they're doing). But the results are perfectly acceptable for general office work or the occasional occasion. If you're looking for a replacement iron that does the job just as well in half the time, then I'd recommend going with a larger steamer. However, if you are like my wife and are just looking for something simple, affordable and portable that gets the job done I believe you will be satisfied with this product for the price we have In use (just fill up and turn on) Portable (can easily slipped into carry-on if desired) Does a good enough job for what I paid for it CONS: MUST be in a full set up tenth position (boiling water will spill if tilted too far - a potential safety issue). The device is quite small, so it takes longer than you think to get the desired results. Absorbs a small amount of condensation/splash which can cause temporary wet spots on clothing (they dry quickly but be aware when working with some fabrics that may have color retention issues).

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
