My 9 year old son chose this watch as his first watch. When he opened the beautiful package he was so happy. The clock is beautiful. The watch looks like I paid a lot more than what I paid for it. He has a second hand and teaching him how to read the time helps a lot. It has markers for seconds, minutes and hours. Plus, the chrome finish shines beautifully and the Batman symbol stands out. That would be very important for a Batman fan. The strap is rubber but very comfortable. I tried it on and my son said it was comfortable too. The only problem is that the watch is not waterproof. But that won't stop you from buying this watch. I wouldn't buy it for a small child. I would buy this for a child who is responsible enough to keep it out of the water, take it off and keep it safe during activities that could damage it. I would buy it for a child aged 8+.
