Review on Brinno BCC200 Construction & Outdoor Security Time Lapse Camera Trio Bundle Pack - TLC200 Pro Camera, Clamp, Water-Resistant Case - 42-Day Battery Life, 720P by Brian Page

Revainrating 5 out of 5

We've already ordered a dozen of these!

In the last 9 or 10 months since we bought the first TLC200, our company has purchased several of these units, usually in sets of 2, 3 or 4, for our many factories that we use them use for slow -moving recordings of our production according to the principle of lean manufacturing. I work 3 for a local branch. Plants are exposed to the elements and harsh, dusty environments, and these cameras work seamlessly in action. I've had no issues with the weatherproofing and no issues with the cameras themselves. A newer model came out this year with 1080p HD (that's 720p) and support for 32+GB (they only support SDHC, the newer ones support SDXC) and can be configured not to record on weekends or non-working days. The new model is still double the price, so the TLC200 is still highly recommended. We're seeing around 7+ days of write time on a 32GB card when shooting at 5 second intervals - it depends on the scene, watching the paint dry requires less data than slow motion footage of your garden. The FOV is wide enough too, which is nice, and there are mounting points on the body to attach additional accessories if you want (like a telescope lens). The camera does not have a microphone in case you are concerned about wiretapping laws in your state or jurisdiction. Criticisms/comments: As mentioned, these recordings only allow you to set the time of day, only one interval - so you can record 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening, you have to set it to record from morning to evening and it will record regardless of the day of the week , even on weekends. Weatherproof yet resilient has an odd design choice, as opening the case on the mount flips the entire camera away from the back, and that doesn't make sense from the user's perspective: you need to flip the back out backwards so you can pull the camera straight out be able. This is because the screw attachment point is on the cover/back of the case, not on the case body. I don't know why they did it, it seems absurd to me and makes you more likely to accidentally drop the camera. The mount itself is very strong but we had a technician break the green insert into a piece of plastic used to attach to smaller supports/tubes such as B. the third mini-leg in the clamp. The most common mounting point in the factory is electrical conduit that runs up and down concrete pillars, and the included clamp prevents you from orienting the camera vertically up in this case. So for this type of setup, I highly recommend purchasing Revain's optional dual-ball camera mount, which will give you that extra degree of freedom you need. The mount/camera is compatible with all standard 1/4" mounts. The only thing I encountered was SD cards when we installed them in the sun - I strongly advise people not to install them in direct sunlight to avoid overheating problems, and use lithium batteries when you need to record in low or hot summer temperatures, more granular when the voltage drops, so alkaline batteries have a shorter lifespan, and I wouldn't recommend rechargeable batteries as they don't handle outdoor temperatures well at all and most of them only supply 1.2 V and not 1.5 V. Fumbling with a large pan head screw connected to the case, my car key gets on my nerves If you need to take many shots of the same scene: 1) Get it Get 2 (or more) 32GB SDHC cards and keep spare batteries, swap them all at once to avoid downtime while recording in. 2) Use the knob on the base of the included mount To align with the weatherproof housing: Point it in the same direction as your table/lens. If you need to remove the camera to change cards/batteries, unscrew the camera right from there and you can easily reorient the camera to match the orientation of the grip without moving the mount an inch. 3) If you see the battery gauge go to 2/3 on Lithium, you're practically dead. Exchange them. In practice, you can usually get videos on 2 SD cards with a set of 4 batteries.
