As the name suggests and I was really surprised at how well I could shave with this soapy dough. One of the main differences I noticed, besides the obvious smell, was that it thickens very easily. Disclaimer: I have not used it in a standard cup with an application brush. I rubbed it into my face just enough to see a light lather, then massaged it into my face, creating a thicker texture. Use an application brush for best results. This item was a spur of the moment purchase that I actually meant to buy but kept forgetting and decided to finally pull the trigger. I've shaved their heads and faces since summer came. I wanted to shave my head completely and I have a lightly tanned complexion with reddish-pink undertones. The reason I say this is because I have darker hair and when I shave my head or face my skin/face has the effect of a 5 hour shave. With soapy clay, however, it was so low that it looked like a closer shave. I have a dense pattern of facial hair but thicker on my chin and mustache than in the middle/side. I was pleasantly surprised that it was enough between my first or second shave to get a completely clean shaven face with only very tiny strokes under my nose and on the tip of my chin due to the curvature. I also use a double edged safety razor instead of throwing away the plastic. When the soap thickens noticeably, you can see and feel it clinging to hairs that are easily pulled out when shaving. This is my first clay soap experience. I use gel, cream or all-purpose soap all the time. While it can get the job done, clay soap shaves a lot better. It's really hard to explain, you have to try. I have no intention of going back to another. As for the head. I was also surprised when I used it, it made the same perfect very short cut of the head, slightly lifted the hair that was there and allowed you to shave over it giving you a nice close shave. I can hardly feel/see it until I'm ready to shave again the next day. It lasts most of the day and I start my day between 8:00 and 9:00 am. Also subject to a 5-hour shadow blur effect. The fact that the shaving at 6-7 p.m. was imperceptible and almost not felt shows that it lifts/binds the hair much better. Maybe I'll use a special brush with a soap holder in the future. I just used a small cup that can hold soap. It also seemed very durable because you don't use it as a body wash, so a bar tends to last a very long time.
