Coated in some kind of chemical that will burn your skin! Do not buy. At first I was very happy with these chains. They even accidentally dropped a second silver chain so I had 2 silver and 1 gold. Score I thought! :) I happily wore them 3-5 times a week for a few months, but I have a scab on the back of my neck (guess a chemical burn?) wherever the chain hit. I finally stopped wearing them about 2 months ago but I have continued to wear other necklaces and it went away. I don't know what they are covered with, but unfortunately I don't recommend it to anyone. Loafers because I love simple design. Also, I was NEVER sensitive to jewelry of any kind. So much so that I figured it wasn't the jewelry and continued to wear it for a month.
