Yes, no DRAM. Yes, this is usually seen as a disadvantage. This is usually the case in a SATA III system. But when used in an older system it's perfect for SATAII (3Gb/s) and actually faster than the MX500 (with DRAM) on SATA-II. On SATA-III, this drive will definitely show how slow it can be. , but read/write speeds are still more than double the fastest SATA drives. The smaller BX500 is actually faster at 269MB/s read and 252MB/s write. There really isn't much point in spending the extra 40% on an MX500 with DRAM. If you're using SATAIII 6Gb/s on a modern system, get the MX500 with DRAM. But it's not a bad drive to upgrade from a rotary drive over a SATAII 3Gb/s connection.
