When this reader interacts with my Macbook Pro 15" 2016, it seems to work fine. However, it keeps crashing for no particular reason and immediately reconnects on its own. I disabled an option in my Macbook's settings to try to hibernate the drives. So I don't think my Macbook is doing anything that "turns off" the reader. Emissions occur about every 3-10 minutes of use and this repeats the entire time I use the reader. I have an old USB 2.0 reader that I can use with a USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 adapter and it doesn't behave that way on my Macbook. I use the reader to extract and edit photos taken with my camera and stored on my compact flash cards. I have contacted StarTech Technical Support to see if they can provide a solution. In the meantime, I need to switch back to my slower USB 2.0 reader because I'm concerned that constant unexpected ejections will eventually corrupt a file, multiple files, or possibly the entire compact flash card. ruin my photos. As of now, I cannot trust the use of this reader for files of any importance.
