Update: It's been a while since I posted my original review. I've since downgraded the star rating because these two cameras struggle to connect each night. Once they switch to night vision, they both turn off. Then they fight to see each other again. Every day only one camera will connect and the other will not. But it's a different camera every day. My older ones don't have this problem. Zmodo needs serious work to remain competitive in this market. I've had 3 Zmodo cameras for about two years now, two of which are outdoor cameras and one indoor panoramic camera with two way audio and alerts to keep an eye on dogs while we're away. . I just recently added two more external cameras. I have to say these are good cameras for the price. I want to point out one thing that can be painful for some. The length of the cable for outdoor cameras is a little short. I can tell you that there is a solution for this. You can purchase the micro USB cable extension I received and it is 33 feet long. You will also need to purchase a USB power adapter to do this. I found two packages of 33ft micro USB cables and two packages of USB power adapters for less than $30. So if the location of a standard outlet is a potential issue, fear not. The cameras are easy to set up and the build quality is excellent. The two original outdoor cameras I've had for the past two years have survived the harsh northern New England winters. The app is decent and gets the job done, nothing fancy or confusing. The warning system works 95% of the time. On rare occasions, I've walked past a camera for the first time and not received a motion alert. Look, I can handle the price. What worries me the most is the cloud service. It's quite expensive for a 7-day plan compared to many other home camera systems that offer it for free or less. However, the biggest problem is that their website states that if you buy the 7-day plan, you get continuous recording. This is a blatant lie. It actually records an image every minute or two or so when no motion is detected. You can clearly see a fragment of the previous footage and see how the trees move sporadically on a windy day. But sporadic winding is not in fashion, but as if the video "slips” during playback. Zmodo, do not list "continuous recording" on your site unless you actually can. In general, the cameras are good, video quality is good, setup is easy, price is good. But the cloud service is a scam and doesn't do what their website says. I'm sticking with this system because it suits my needs and budget.
