I did extensive research on several DVD players from the usual suspects - Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Pioneer - before settling on this Panasonic. There were many reasons why I chose this particular one and I will try to outline them below. First of all, this DVD player is either the best or one of the best in all important technical characteristics - picture resolution, dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio, etc. Second, the picture and sound quality of this DVD player is simply stunning - This is especially important considering that some Sony owners complained about the "noisy disc drive mechanism" and the "smoother picture quality" and said that the picture is not clear. much sharper than their own high-end VCRs. Third, this DVD player has all the output jacks (though fewer than Sony's) you need to connect even the most modern of TVs and receivers. After all, I wasn't planning on using my CD-Rs on it, but if you do, look for another DVD player. Conclusion: If you buy a DVD player that will offer you excellent video and sound quality. very well priced and willing to compromise with some other little things then this is the right buy - no doubt about it.
