This is a great alternative if you don't want to mess around with buried wire. I trained my 2 year old golden retriever in less than 2 weeks. It took me an hour to set this up and run it, including setting up the area I wanted, finding the "sweet spot" in the house to place it, and ticking the boxes. This creates a 360* circle around your perimeter, so keep that in mind when choosing between this and a wired system. It was easy to take on a weekend trip and use on my pup in an unfamiliar location with no problems. Can't comment on the battery life yet, but 5 months and it's still working (a battery would be nice) but unless your dog controls the boundary and the collar isn't activated the battery seems to last a lot longer. Conclusion: Like most people, I was very skeptical about this product, but I am very happy with the decision to try it.
