Liked the 2017 version better; can't recommend this one

This is my second Samsung Tab A. I loved my first one until I accidentally dropped it in the wash. So I bought a new one (SM-T290) expecting the same performance or better. Unfortunately, the new one is a big step backwards. UPDATE: Do not purchase this edition. What should have been a great tablet has been seriously misrepresented by Samsung. Although it has an SD card slot, you cannot move apps to it. There isn't enough RAM (only 2GB) to function properly - even web browsing in the Chrome browser is very slow and very sluggish. It's nowhere near as good as my 2017 Samsung Tab AI. I'm also disappointed that it lacks features that were included in my 2017 version of the Samsung Tab A (SM-T380): 1) My old tablet had a USB-C port. , SM-T290 has an old-school mini-USB connector. 2) My 2017 tablet turned off/on when I closed/opened the lid; Closing the lid (new from the same brand as my old one) on my new tablet doesn't turn off the tablet, so the battery drains too quickly if I forget to turn it off manually. 3) the new model's front camera is only 2MP (the old one was 5MP) and 4) the new 1.1lb tablet is significantly heavier than the old one (0.79lb). The new tablet runs Android 9.0 (Pie) while the old one was Android 7.1. So I got an updated operating system. I'm not the kind of techie to appreciate how the Qualcomm SDM429 Snapdragon 429 with quad-core Cortex-A53 performs at 2.0GHz compared to the Qualcomm APQ8017 and quad-core at 1.4GHz on the old device. I assumed the new one would be faster, but that wasn't my experience. This works fine as a Kindle reader (when I can download books), but I'm having trouble moving my books to the SD card. Urgh! Don't buy this if performance matters to you at all. I'd rather have a Kindle.
