These types are made for tough use. I used them on a porch swing a few months ago and I haven't seen any of the corrosion issues mentioned in several other reviews. The time will show. WARNING. As sturdy as they are, remember that they cost less than $20. If you are thinking of using them in an application where someone could get hurt, DO NOT. It is not for nothing that these key hooks are many times cheaper in hardware stores than in climbing shops. Because you can trust your life, honey. Keychains are made differently, they are not tested or certified. They are designed for wallets, not people. I don't blame the manufacturer, they don't claim to be selling a critical product. No one could at that price. Like key hooks, they are very good for their purpose. I just want to warn people that just because they *seem* so reliable and strong someone could put them on a boat or put them in some other capacity where failure would be catastrophic. How a budget rifle can disappoint you greatly.
