but they are used 15-20 days a month so they hold a pretty decent charge

I use this scale for cosmetic chemistry and it works for what I need it for. FOR/AGAINST1. It is VERY VERY sensitive. It can be annoyingly sensitive at times, but it's accurate and gets the job done. Calibration takes about 15-20 seconds, so it's not a big problem. I usually calibrate it before each use, so I'm used to doing that. It's not all that different from the calibration - it's usually around +/- 0.01-0.04, which isn't too bad, but I prefer my measurements to be as accurate as possible.3. Batteries last a very long time before they need electricity again. I charged it when I first received it (January 2015) and didn't have to charge it again until March. I don't use it every day, but I use it 15-20 days a month so it holds a pretty decent charge.4. This scale does not work well with hot containers. It displays negative numbers when you place a hot vessel (120Β°F or more) on it and/or jump up.5. You must readjust the adjustable feet each time you change the surface on which the scale is placed. There's a nifty little leveling tool on the front to help you level the scale perfectly. Every time you press the button there is an annoying beep that I can't turn off. Not only is it annoying, it's loud.7. The ad is beautiful. It is very similar to the classic calculator, but red and backlit. The display is clearly visible from different angles and in low light. There's even a display on the back for easy reading.8. It has many internal stabilization features that help with accuracy. It has so many features that I personally will probably never use, but I'm sure many will find them useful.9. Cleaning is fairly easy with a damp cloth or paper towel. I used rubbing alcohol to scrape off some of the residue and this rusted some spots on the scale platform. There were only a few very small stains so I'm not worried.10. According to the manual, this scale requires a 500g calibration weight, which is cheaper than a 1000g weight and more.11. It has a resolution of 0.01 grams.12. It's made entirely of plastic. The only thing that isn't plastic is the weighing platform and the surface around it. It's a polished metal that doesn't like alcohol or water residue. Most likely it won't survive the fall, so be careful.13. I could not remove the scale cover. Conclusion: This scale is amazing and I'm glad the price was low enough to buy it. It is very helpful and accurate and helps me get the job done. Update 08/22/2020: The battery no longer holds a charge and the scale has to be operated with mains power. Also this scale was amazing! It still calibrates accurately, it still works flawlessly all these years later, and it's still in regular use. I seem to have bought mine used for $83 and have no regrets. I was finally able to remove the cover from the load cell security screw area and find a matching screw, but it doesn't help. It doesn't block the load cell at all and there's definitely a chance of damage during transit.

Pros
  • Built in battery
Cons
  • Negative impression
