I first bought ceramic bearings from Panther but returned them after trying them out because they weren't any better than the cheap unnamed steel bearings I already have. I didn't have high hopes for amphetamine stocks because they were even cheaper. After trying these bearings, however, I was pleasantly surprised. After a few hours break they are amazing. It made riding my board a very comfortable experience. There is a very noticeable improvement in speed and ride quality compared to steel bearings. I use them on my longboard. I cleaned them in 91% isopropyl alcohol and lightly oiled them with Singer sewing machine oil. They are very fast, very smooth and quiet. Don't judge their quality by the timing of the free spins. They don't turn by themselves for a long time. Probably while steel warehouse. Although under load they fall forever. One minus, it's not exactly functionality, but cosmetic appearance. The imprint on the outer shield (they don't have an inner shield) wears off very quickly. I've only cleaned them once and the print is so worn it's impossible to tell which brand it is. If it's important to you, maybe some kind of clear coat like clear nail polish or something like that would win. Overall, for performance, I recommend the gold version of these bearings. I will take another set if I build another board.
