Should have listened to the reviews. The iron heats up quickly but doesn't pinch the hair too much. I have very thick hair and thought maybe it was just a problem with thin, soft hair. It is not! The husband simply dismantled the clamp and attempted to bend the spring back. It helped a little. I've found Chi to be a great brand so far. Maybe they're assholes.
