I got this bundled with a TP-Link AC1750 (Archer A7) router which they recommend, to pair with this device to create a seamless mesh network. This was the exact reason I chose this product over many others. I ordered this for my uncle and wanted it to be the easiest solution for him where he only has one network name no matter where he connects. The instructions that came with the extender state that when you connect it to its compatible mesh-enabled routers, it should receive information from the main router and automatically generate a single network name. it was not. I managed to set it up that way, but it was far from easy or automatic. And to make matters worse, the guide doesn't explain how to do it. First, I had to update the router's firmware before the mesh option was available as an option (are you kidding me?). Why should it be when it's marketed with that capability. After the update, I had to go into the router settings and ENABLE the mesh network option (it was disabled by default). Another big "why?". This all happened after several unsuccessful attempts to set up the range extender using WPS and it kept creating an SSID with "_EXT". So I figured I was fine now, reset the range extender and tried again, this time with the grid enabled. should work this time. NO! I found that now I need to go into the range extender settings and [guess what?] ENABLE the grid option! Finally, it now works [as expected, out of the box]. After all that I now have a seamless network all over the house and I then took it to my uncle where he had horrible wifi. in a part of his house because of the division. I set it up (already programmed) and everything works great! Plenty of speed and reliable signal everywhere, especially in his living room, which is very far from the main router (we put the extension cord about halfway between them). extension cord) for use in my own home where we are having trouble with ring doorbells getting a good signal from our main router. I hope this setup here helps to that end as it allows me to place the extension very close to the doorbells and still be close enough to the main router to get a strong enough signal (they just need some extra boost) . I'm thinking of going through an outside wall.) I'll update this review to show how well this works once I've got it installed. Overall, the router and extender have an easy-to-use interface for settings and seem to have most of the options you need for basic networking (they fit our needs). The price is reasonable and the performance has been good so far. In summary, I would recommend this product for its features and performance, but I do not recommend it. I have no experience of manually configuring this type of devices, as the setup is not easy and not easy as stated in the description and instructions. I personally gave it 4 stars based on my personal experience with it and the fact that I was able to get it to work. Of course if I couldn't have gotten it to this point it would have been 1 star so the customer (and company) should think about it. Also, I couldn't find a tech support number to call for help. only links to websites which also didn't include contact information where I could get help if I need it.
