Totally WRONG. That is NOT 100 watts. DO NOT BUY. I installed one to the right of a 2015 Explorer to compare to a stock Sylvania 9005 OEM with 47,000 miles. The light is *whiter*, but it's actually not even as bright as the standard bulb used. The light beam was nice and even, certainly whiter but seemed dimmer than the stock driver's side bulb. The Sylvania 9005 has a central hotspot that is centered and focused, putting more usable light where you need it, although the color temperature was much lower in the yellow/orange range. But what really annoys me is that these bulbs aren't brighter than the stock bulbs. , for a very good reason. These are NOT 100 watt bulbs. I'm an Electrical Engineer with an ASE Master's degree and I'm reading 5.0 amps at 12.5 volts with a calibrated Fluke 337 clamp meter. That's 63 watts. On the way I have 5.1 amps at 12.9 volts, i.e. 66 watts. And remember - the spec for the standard (and legal) 9005 is 65 watts. The higher operating voltage made both the "Hella" and stock bulbs slightly brighter, but the "100 watt" bulb was still dimmer than the standard bulb used. on real HID and LEDs. The blue coating does NOT add brightness, it just filters and shifts the bulb's output spectrum to make the light appear "whiter" with a higher color temperature. And it does this by REMOVING or blocking the red/yellow area, which actually produces LESS light. A 'whiter' light with a higher color temperature seems to make street signs with reflective coatings a little more 'popular', but this is perception, not reality, suggesting there are more lumens of light. The bottom line is that for an incandescent bulb, wattage is a good measure of expected light output, because that's what "wattage" does - converting energy into light and heat. The sealing ring also had a larger cross-sectional diameter. as standard and prevented a dry install, but a bit of silicon grease made it a breeze. Hella should be ashamed. I suspect they don't have the bold Hella branding as it is a Chinese "B-Line" rebranding to allow Hella to take over this "cheap" market. Build quality and packaging seems top notch, but I've only had one bulb last about 15 minutes so can't comment on durability or reliability. I think they "look" like 100w bulbs but they are not presented as such. White color temperature is achieved at the expense of lower overall lumens and brightness due to the blue filter coating. They return to Revain. I was really bothered by the hype, but if you just want white temp I think this will work. Personally, I've ordered genuine Phillips Rallye 100-watt 9005s, which I know are legal. However, they do not have any filter coatings.
