I'm old and prefer to grease pans with solid grease than nonstick spray, but I've always disliked this method because it sticks to the greasy paper towel and grease sticks to my fingers and counter. Yay! I have old pastry brushes with natural bristles; The bristles sometimes come loose during use. Yay again. I just made a whole boatload of bread pudding out of disposable aluminum containers. When cleaning the shortening, I smeared the sides of the pans both ways - against the grooves on the sides of the pans and with the grooves on the sides of the pans. And then I just put the pastry brush in the dishwasher. No woo-hoo! I know they will work great with our metal egg rings when we make our fake egg mac muffins.
