At first I didn't want to buy plastic shakers; However, after using it, my reluctance eased. They are no worse than glass, except that the glass does not break and does not have splinters. They are light and suitable for leaving. While they aren't pretty, they don't do the trick for the first problem. I've emptied both twice since I've had them and they clean up easily with no muddy patches of anything. Salt flows easily, but be careful as it can spill out too quickly. The grinder is just right and adds a bit more flavor compared to pre-ground peppers. I'm trying to get fresh peppercorns; However, sometimes old ones need to be done as a last resort. No pun. Verdict: For the price and purpose, they're perfect for our needs and work great. If needed I will contact Trudeau for a replacement kit or additional ones.
