Bought this because I have two Herc cutters with 4" blades and love them. However, I wanted one with a smaller blade to handle tight turns. no questions asked. But I use very little because, among other things, the design makes it difficult to control. First, the shoe is so narrow that it makes the knife unstable, it's difficult to keep it level on the cutting surface. Secondly, the handle is very bulky, with the blade trigger under the handle. The blade starts to work as soon as you squeeze the handle a little. Since the blade has no guard and activates at the slightest touch, this is a safety concern. What worries me the most is the fact that the cutting lines are obscured by the machine. Since I can't see exactly where the blade is, I have to guess a lot, especially when cornering. Light like the larger model would have been very helpful. All in all, it's a tool that's of limited use, but not enough to justify the price.
