I've been looking for a webcam for a long time. There are a huge number of options, so it was very difficult to choose one. As soon as I saw this Microsoft webcam I fell in love with its design, but the reviews made me a little skeptical. I read reviews all over the internet and watched others on YouTube before finally deciding on this one. It arrived pretty quickly and I really like it. Since I've spent so much time reviewing this camera to see if it's a good choice, I'll try to summarize what I was looking for and what it took me hours to find in this review: 1. This webcam is cataloged like a laptop webcam. I was very confused as I also wanted to use it with my desktop PC. The two reasons it's listed as such is that it captures a little less than other webcams; However, if you have a flat screen that's about 2 inches wide, it will fit. The other and most important reason is that the USB cable is very short, so it can be plugged into a laptop's USB port and not a desktop computer's processor. So if your processor isn't in close proximity to your monitor or a monitor with USB ports, you can purchase a USB extender for it.2. Devilish problem with "Autofocus". This is a criticism that has been leveled at this webcam almost everywhere I've looked. And yes, it is indeed a big problem, but fortunately with an easy fix. From what I've read, people were very upset that the only way to turn off autofocus was to turn off the "True Color" feature first, and others couldn't even find a way to turn it off. Well after using the camera for a bit and checking the autofocus issue, it took me about 10 seconds to turn it off on its own, no other functions were affected. Apparently Microsoft released the latest driver for the software (installed automatically from the CD) with which you simply go to Properties and uncheck "Auto AF" and voila! Problem solved. The only downside to this is that if you try to show something very close to the webcam, say you want to show the text of a book, it's not auto-focused and very blurry, but you can also manually adjust it adjusted the sharpness settings to make the text clearer. The secret is to disable the auto focus feature. No big deal.3. The microphone is quite comfortable. Don't expect high audio quality, but it does the job well and the noise canceling feature makes all the difference.4. The software is very simple but practical. You get a lot of color and shape effects with the added feature that they follow your face instead of staying in the center and you have to adjust to the effects. You can also use it to take pictures, record audio and video in various resolutions up to 720p HD. The only feature I would like to see is a photo timer as sometimes I want to take a picture of myself remotely.5. This is a very small camera, much smaller than I thought it would be, which is nice. The 360° function also works very well and rotates very easily and smoothly. It also comes with a nice wallet-sized case that fits your webcam and USB cable perfectly. Overall this is an amazing webcam and not too expensive. While there were other webcams for the same price and with better reviews, this webcam's design and 360° capabilities just got me hooked. This is indeed a very nice webcam that is easy and safe to carry in a pocket and performs well for a casual user like me. I am very happy with it.
