Review on πŸ“» TECSUN DR-920C: Versatile Black Digital World Band Radio for FM/MW/SW Reception by John Warren

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Solid performer for radios

Battery discharge destroyed an old Radio Shack AM/FM/SW radio that I've had for over 25 years. I researched these radios for several weeks before settling on this little Tecsun DR-920C. When I say little, I mean LITTLE! But even though it's small, its performance is big. I mostly listen to AM radio programs and this thing works really well in AM. The internal antenna is sufficient for a station with an acceptable signal. FM is suitable for local stations. What surprised me was the performance on the SW. I wasn't expecting much at all, especially with the telescopic whip, but it worked really well. I'm adding a spiral wire antenna just in case and can't wait to see how it works with it. That's a great thing for an emergency radio. It's small enough to fit in a backpack or pocket. It runs on just two AA batteries, so keeping it going is super easy. The radio is very easy to use. No need to study a bunch of menus. I like that there are actual buttons for functions instead of menus. The menus give me a headache, especially if you rarely use the radio. The radio's plastic case is just as strong as my old one, although I wouldn't take offense if someone built a radio like this, but in a stronger case meant for rough handling. and a very functional radio for emergencies or even casual listening, this is a good choice.
