Nice short wave!

I like this baby. So fast for scanning tapes and it does a pretty good job of pulling stations up with a long cable and then holding them in place. The sound is better than I thought it would be with a small speaker. I really think Tecsun is one of the best radio manufacturers out there today and it's fantastic for so little money. The battery life has also been excellent so far.

  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Elegant in its simplicity

Who doesn't need an FM/AM/shortwave radio anymore? Me to replace the old Grundig that had served for years. This radio from Tecsun is almost identical to my old Grundig which had a bad volume control. For $24, this replacement is fine. My iPhone drains my battery if I listen to it for too long. This little radio is great. I can listen to BBC across the country if I can find a PBS radio channel, and most places I work that are college or university related, or places like Maine, have a public…

  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Amazing little radio

perfect little radio for me. I have a grundig s350 and a radio like grundig. This small portable device records just as well as local AM stations. I've never tried long range fishing like the station in Atlanta, and I'm in Kansas. But for local radio it's a good buy. Loud enough sound without distortion. I like radios that have digital tuners so you know what station you're on, as opposed to the analogue type. I really like the sleep function so you don't waste your batteries if you get…

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • Big and bulky

I am updating my purchase

I reviewed this earlier and gave it a bad rating and review. I was wrong! I accidentally put in bad batteries. With good batteries, it gradually became my switch to SW radio. It's small and misses a few SW frequencies, but what it's pulling in right now more than makes up for it. The sound is a bit questionable. Keep it on full volume and you're good to go. I sincerely apologize for my previous review. I think you will be satisfied with this set. Just don't do like me, be an idiot and put in…

Good all round radio

I have a DR-920-C and an old Eton M300 and VITE VT-111. In my experience, the Tecsun's VHF reception is less sensitive than that of the VT-111. He did not detect 2 separate transmitters, neither from the on-board nor from the external antenna, which the VT-111 displayed clearly and reliably. For me, however, Tecsun VITE is far superior in both AM and shortwave. I'm not an expert, but I use these radios in upstate Maine, deep in the mountains, and I have the opportunity to try different antenna…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Easy maintenance

Nice shortwave portable radio

I've been considering this Tecsun radio for a number of years and instead of buying it from eBay I finally decided to buy it from Revain. I am very happy. I was concerned that the DR-920C would have very limited coverage of the shortwave band, that it would miss transmissions that were beyond the reach of the normal broadcast bands. I'm happy to report that the DR-920C is way out of range; for example I can hear WRMI (Florida) on 7730 kHz and Cuba on 4765 kHz. Sensitivity to short waves is…

Solid performer for radios

Battery discharge destroyed an old Radio Shack AM/FM/SW radio that I've had for over 25 years. I researched these radios for several weeks before settling on this little Tecsun DR-920C. When I say little, I mean LITTLE! But even though it's small, its performance is big. I mostly listen to AM radio programs and this thing works really well in AM. The internal antenna is sufficient for a station with an acceptable signal. FM is suitable for local stations. What surprised me was the performance…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Modern

Tecsun DR-920C is an excellent radio station. Excellent radio for listening to AM, FM and shortwave signals. I have 3 other Tecsun radios so I know their radios very well. I would say that the Tecsun radios have earned a reputation for being very good radios. I put Dr-920C in radio sensitivity and selectivity comparison with Tecsun PL-606. The 606 costs almost twice as much as the 920 and has more features. Big difference between radios; 606 is a DSP digital signal processing radio, 920 is a…
