I've been considering this Tecsun radio for a number of years and instead of buying it from eBay I finally decided to buy it from Revain. I am very happy. I was concerned that the DR-920C would have very limited coverage of the shortwave band, that it would miss transmissions that were beyond the reach of the normal broadcast bands. I'm happy to report that the DR-920C is way out of range; for example I can hear WRMI (Florida) on 7730 kHz and Cuba on 4765 kHz. Sensitivity to short waves is good. Yesterday I received a readable signal from EWTN (Catholic Radio Worldwide) on 15610 kHz. Not all compact radios can do that! Sensitivity to medium wave (AM broadcast band) is also good; I tuned into a lot of long range AM signals last night and can tune into most of my AM stations in nearby markets during the day. Only the weakest get lost in the hiss. The FM band isn't that hot; I'm having trouble listening to some of my weak FM stations. This can be due to overloading with a strong signal or simply less sensitivity on FM. All my strong FM locals are easy to tune. Suitable for casual listening. The sound quality is good for my hearing. I think it's mostly mids, but they're crisp (no distortion) and quite powerful. All in all, the Tecsun DR-920C will suit me as a very portable multi-band radio.
