I charged this camera twice then I wanted to use it and it wouldn't turn on. That's a big bummer if you're going on a water excursion and can't use the camera you brought with you. It turns out that the battery can be used in any way, and therefore did not charge when charging. While this is user error and made me feel like a dummy for not paying enough attention, I have many other cameras and none of them are designed to accept a non-standard (not typical AA or AAA) battery that could be mis-inserted. The battery has a label that says 'insert in this direction', which is obvious anyway since that's where the metal terminals are, but nowhere on the battery does it say that only one side can be lifted when inserted in that direction becomes. More appropriate instructions should be printed on the battery, or a sticker should be affixed in the battery compartment, which was first used to warn users. The bigger problem is that the first time I was able to use it, it leaked. The viewfinder filled with water and pictures could not be taken. It seems like it was sealed and locked normally so I don't know why that happened. Ride #3 is spoiled by (IMO) poor design. Now dry it out to see if it starts again. Waste of nearly $300. It's unreliable. I would not buy it again nor would I recommend it.
