Fixes an issue with my TV's poor long-distance reception.

I wish I had known this product existed many years ago. I've connected a TV (Westinghouse LVM-42W2 42" 1080p LCD video monitor) and surround sound receiver (Sony STR-K995) since 2007. My TV's remote control has always been awful to use, even with various universal and learning remotes were used, the TV's IR sensor was never sensitive enough to the remote to reliably turn it on and off More recently, I've been using the RF remote that came with the TiVo Roamio, where the single TV Pwr button tries to power both the TV and receiver at the same time, this often resulted in trying to turn the TV and receiver on or off at the same time, but the TV was not responding, causing the system to cycle on and off Done in minutes, and I tried turning the receiver and TV on and off at the same time before getting off the couch and manually unplugging the power switch ter on the side of the TV. this power supply. I turned on the TV in one of the switched (green) outlets and the receiver in the control (blue) outlet. I reprogrammed my TiVo remote to not try to control the TV at all. Now I just turn the receiver on and off with the remote control and the TV does the same automatically. I can't express how amazing it is to see these components finally working in unison. While my receiver supports HDMI-CEC, my TiVo and TV don't, which means I haven't had the ability to have one device control the power of another until now. I also connected the subwoofer's power to one of the switched outlets, so hopefully I'll save some power since the subwoofer used to be on 24/7 even when I wasn't watching TV. The only downsides I would like to point out are: 1. Too many green (switched) outlets and not enough red (off) outlets for my purposes. I currently have a cable modem, Apple TV, and TiVo in red outlets, but I want to move my Slingbox to this location and need to add a second extension or multitap to support it. I have 4 unused green outlets on this extension.2. It's quite large, making it difficult to hide in a small enclosed space. It's barely visible at the moment, jutting out from under my TV behind my TiVo and a receiver in my entertainment center.3. For what this product does, it's a bit pricey. I bought a $20 Sony learning remote a few years ago that solved the same problem, although I stopped using it because I preferred the TiVo remote. The TiVo Learning Remote costs $50. Although this solution is cheaper, I would expect it to cost half as much. I did not purchase the cheaper version (Smart Strip SCG-3M Power Saver with Auto Switching Technology, 7 outlets) of this power strip because I needed more red outlets (see #1 above).
