Bought these for my kids (11 and 13 year olds) so they can stay hydrated on holiday. I estimated they were insulated (most we looked at weren't) and they could hold 2 liters of water. We used to have water bottles and slings, but they get in the way when climbing rocks, through caves, etc. We really appreciate the caps on the end of the mouthpiece. Hiking in Utah gets very dusty and we've seen others with hydration packs have had to ask a friend to rinse their mouthpiece before drinking. It also gave my kids enough room for their Junior Ranger bags, pens, phones, sunglasses and lip balms. My only complaint is that we use water bottle fillers to fill them up and you have to hold them at a slight angle as the hole is a large screw cap on the side and you have to use your hand to "activate". "Water filler. We saw another person fill their bag from above and it was a lot easier. Of course my 11 and 13 year olds can fill them. So probably almost anyone can do that. ;) Every morning they lay Ice in them so the water was comfortable and cool most of the day.
