Review on 🔩 3858115 Volvo Penta 4.3 5.0 5.7 Metal Raw Water Sea Pump Impeller Housing by Greg Mahoney

Not sure why the 3.0 liter engines are not included in the original description but they fit my 2005 Volvo Penta 3.0 as Brian mentioned in his review. I ran into an issue where my pump would stop drawing when wet. water and even after replacing the impeller once with a non-genuine part and once with a genuine Volvo part this did not solve the problem and resulted in overheating and I had to be towed back to shore. I went through all these diagnostic procedures suggested on the internet and almost spent my time taking the mirror apart to replace the water inlet seal after reading that it could be an air leak. I decided to hook up a shop vacuum to the raw water pump inlet hose and when I closed the inlets on the bottom unit the vacuum held and there was no sign of a leak. The only thing I could think of was that the suitcase itself was bad, although it had no visible flaws. I bought this unit and used the supplied silicone lube instead of the glycerine (which Volvo offers) and the pump started working right away. In my experience, don't assume your house is okay just because you can't see a defect. Cases also wear out. Hope this helps someone with the same problem.
