8/22/17: I just received this today and I've already put two AA batteries in it and put it outside in the hot delta sun to charge. Very easy to understand and use. Suitable for all battery sizes except 9 volts. Simultaneously charges two batteries of the same size. The information on the packaging indicates an average charging time: AAA takes 6 to 12 hours; AA lasts 15 to 31 hours; C is from 31 to 62 hours and D is from 69 to 138 hours. Yes, it's long, but if you find yourself in a situation like a power outage, hopefully you've started with fully charged batteries, and that's just in case you need to charge the extra kit for use. Plus, you don't pay a penny to recharge your batteries. We will update them when our batteries are charged. Reviews on the manufacturer's website warn against holding the lid slightly ajar to avoid burning out the batteries. The counter works and shows when the batteries are not charged and charging. Visit the C.Crane manufacturer's website for additional information and technical specifications for this product. They recommend charging in full sunlight, but will also charge in bright weather, but it will take longer. If it works as expected, I have no problem buying another one or two to have on hand. I will monitor the charging of other battery types.
