Bought a 32 GB flash drive. When choosing, I was guided by the following results of this flash drive: Sequential Read : 12320221 MB/s Sequential Write : 39.600 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 94.372 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 10.020 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 4.288 MB/s [ 1046.8 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.803 MB/s [ 196.1 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 520223 MB/s [ 1260.5 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.716 MB/s [ 174.8 IOPS] Test : 1000 MB [G: 0.0% (0.0/30.0 GB)] (x9) Date : 2022/02/10 0:38:09 OS : Windows 7 SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x86) The speed of my flash drive turned out to be quite much lower: Sequential Read : 76.566 MB/s Sequential Write : 22.301 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 71.438 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 1.743 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 720229 MB/s [ 1757.7 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.029 MB/s [ 7.1 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 6.318 MB/s [ 1542.6 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.029 MB/s [ 7.2 IOPS] Test : 1000 MB [F: 0.3% (0.1/29.4 GB)] (x9) Date : 2022/03/05 20:42:53 OS : Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64) It's all about the different controllers and types of memory that are inside. In the first case, this is Controller: Silicon Motion SM3267 ABS, in my case it is Controller: Innostor IS916EN A3, as well as in different types of memory Memory Type: MLC, and I apparently have a slower TLC. And although my results fit well into the declared “UP to 70/18 MB / s”, but the discrepancies in speed by 1.6-5.2 TIMES for the same flash drive at the same price are too much. Moreover, it is not clear how to find out what exactly you risk buying before you open the package and run the tests. Apparently Transcend decided to cut costs in this way….
