Perfect. Buy this!

It's strange to see people belittling this material because it is exactly how it should be. I bought it twice because it's strong, predictable, flexible enough to be hand wrapped around a screw eye, absolutely rust free, and forgives my ridiculous efforts. It will support my excessive unhealthy weight. I can throw extra wood over this wire after running it over the bottom edges of the open rafters in the garage. Never broken or stretched in the 24 inch spaces it covers. ALL steel wire will stretch great distances depending on how you work it. However, I haven't threaded the first roll at all since I threaded some fairy lights three years ago. A barrel is 53 feet long and has 50 lights. I needed something like this because it's fatal for a light string to put meaningful tension directly on the string, and so you need to support the string in something like that. Don't worry about cables as they are huge and expensive overkill and difficult to connect. Do not use polyethylene or fabric fishing line; they WILL sag. If you have trouble with the wire twisting a little, that's perfectly normal. It's rolled steel! Add a lot of tension and then loosen it up a bit. Remember that fairy lights have a significant smoothing effect. If they growl when you try to unwind them, you're probably unwinding from the outside and not the inside. It's been like this since they invented this stuff centuries ago. OR you can roll it off the outer end after mounting it on a horizontal bar like wheels (F-clamp, broomstick or tube attached to a stepladder, etc.).

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • boring packaging
