We have multiple cats and two litter boxes. We love these mats! They do an amazing job catching the excess litter and we can easily dump it back into the box in an effort to save some money and not go through litter as fast. The only "down side" (if you can call it that) would be the mat can be a little stiff in the beginning making it slightly more challenging to bend and get the litter back into the box. However, that seems to be alleviated after a few uses. Typically, I take these mats outside, spray some cleaner on them, and hose them off. Easy as that to clean!
